The third event of the PGA Tour season brought the world’s best players to the famous Torrey Pines in San Diego, California for the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open. Headlining the field this week is Brooks Koepka, who improved his numbers while playing in his first PGA Tour event since 2022.
After being released on December 23, 2025, Koepka made a surprisingly quick comeback earlier this year. First star to return to PGA Tour Since launching LIV Golf. He spoke out about his decision to return this week, highlighting his family situation and the role of Tiger Woods in convincing him to work primarily in the United States again. Koepka was nervous earlier this week, but he’s calmed down a bit after moving day, especially since he won’t be competing for a title.
Pole position on the leaderboard was taken by 45-year-old Briton and 2025 Masters runner-up Justin Rose. He tore up the course in the first two days, setting a new 36-hole record at Torrey Pines. Rose enters Saturday’s third round with a four-stroke lead and will be looking for his 13th PGA Tour victory and his second in recent years, having won the St. Jude Championship last August.
Seamus Power, Joel Damen, Max McGreevy and Siwoo Kim rounded out the top five right behind Rose. No one comes within seven strokes of Rose, giving him an opportunity to play some solid golf for a chance at an early season win.
