A shooting was reported Wednesday in Flagstaff, Arizona. Scanner alerts indicated a shooting was occurring in the Railroad Springs area.
The Facebook report further states: “If you are in the Mark Lynn or Shelly area, please stay indoors and lock all windows and doors.”
Flagstaff Police released a statement saying, “A police incident is occurring in the neighborhood on the north side of West Route 66 between S. Thompson Street and N. Mark Lane! Please avoid the area and shelter in place if you are currently in the neighborhood.”
Further updates on the scanner claimed that officers initially engaged a subject who was firing a gun on a roof. “Prime Minister has engaged in multiple gunfire exchanges with a black male suspect. Drones and helicopters are responding. SWAT is on scene. The suspect was on a rooftop and has now jumped from the rooftop and is visible in the area. Please remain indoors and lock all doors and windows. Do not answer any doors. Please seek shelter in place,” the post reads.
The scanner report states that Flagstaff police were at Sherry Docter’s home and there was mention of a possible gunshot fired after a fight. Multiple agencies are said to be cooperating.
It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the shooting. The identity of the suspect is also unknown.
Reaction to Flagstaff shooting
Several people shared their reactions to the shooting in Flagstaff. “I could hear the sound of a whole magazine being taken out,” one person said, suggesting someone had fired an entire magazine’s worth of bullets.
Another official corroborated this statement by saying, “There were multiple shots fired right now.” Another official said, “There was another shooting.”
Others, on the other hand, commented with folded hands showing prayers for what was happening in Arizona.
