Ronny Deila is reportedly being considered for the vacant head coaching position of the Tunisian national team, opening the door for a swift return to the dugout for the former Celtic manager…
The 50-year-old has not been with the club since parting ways with Atlanta United in October, ending a difficult 12-month period that coincided with the poorest season in MLS history.
Despite that setback, Deila could return to work soon, with talks said to be underway for a possible international appointment.
According to journalists Rudy GalettiInitial talks have taken place between Deila and Tunisian Football Federation officials as they search for a replacement for Sami Trabelsi, who was sacked after a disappointing African Cup of Nations that saw many Celtic supporters watching the match. Deila faces competition for the role, with Frank Hayes, Olivier D’Alloglio, Eric Schell, Walter Mazzarri and Sabri Ramouchi also considered, but Nasreddin Nabi has already declined the offer.
If an agreement is reached, it will be Deila’s first experience as an international manager, having previously only coached at club level in Norway, Scotland, Belgium and the United States.
In this role, he will also work alongside Celtic winger Sebastian Tunekuti. Scottish Champion from Hammarby Last summer, he earned five senior caps for Tunisia.

Notably, one of Tunekuti’s new coaches at international level could be Kenny Miller. The former Celtic and Ibrox club striker is currently Delia’s number two.

In other news, Celtic moved back into second place in the Scottish Premiership table last night. Nice 1-0 win over FalkirkBenjamin Nygren’s header proved decisive.
The result ensured that the Scottish champions remained within six points of leaders Hearts, who won a hard-fought 2-0 win against St Mirren despite being reduced to 10 men after 15 minutes.

However, the performance of Martin O’Neill’s men left much to be desired, and John McGlynn’s Falkirk outfit created ample opportunity to feel resentful at leaving empty-handed. The lack of fluency in Celtic’s play highlighted a growing sense of the urgent need for reinforcements.
The focus is now firmly on the January transfer window as supporters look for new players to strengthen the squad chasing Derek McInnes’ side.
It is understood that securing a new centre-forward is a priority, but there are still 15 days left before the deadline. The reason Celtic would not sign a striker defies logic. Things must accelerate as soon as possible.
