President Trump’s latest: “Have a backbone” in Greenland, California governor tells “pathetic” Europeans | World News

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given a modest assessment of U.S.-China relations in President Trump’s first year in office.

“Over the past year, China-US relations have experienced ups and downs, but overall they have achieved dynamic stability,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference.

He added that it was expected that the U.S.-China relationship would undergo “sometimes fluctuations” and that China was ready to work with the United States to stabilize the relationship.

Guo also acknowledged that the Chinese government has been asked to join President Donald Trump’s Peace Commission, but declined to say whether he would accept.

Washington has invited dozens of countries to join the board. Nominally, he is supposed to oversee the implementation of President Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

US officials are reportedly pitching the organization as a broader alternative to the United Nations for conflict resolution.
