Hawks’ Jalen Johnson exits with hip injury in 1st quarter

ATLANTA — Hawks forward jalen johnson He left Tuesday night’s 119-98 win over the Washington Wizards with a torn left hip flexor.

Johnson was injured in the first quarter and was sidelined after being evaluated by the training staff.

“It was enough to keep him out of the game,” coach Quin Snyder said.

Johnson, who qualified for his first All-Star Game this season, will be re-evaluated before the Hawks play the Wizards again on Thursday to complete the series in Atlanta. It’s unclear whether he will miss any additional playing time.

Johnson played about 5 1/2 minutes against the Wizards and had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. He entered the night averaging 23.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists.

His absence paved the way. Jonathan Kuminga He scored a season-high 27 points in his Hawks debut. Kuminga was acquired from Golden State at the trade deadline.
