Together, the social housing projects will provide approximately 1,600 new homes.
HDB plans to begin three build-to-order (BTO) projects in Lakeview and Harukaze from June 2026, marking the first time in more than 40 years that new social housing has been introduced in these areas. These projects will provide more housing options for homebuyers, especially those looking to live closer to their families in nearby towns such as Toa Payoh, Bishan and Ang Mo Kio, for better mutual care and support. It will also introduce additional amenities and facilities that will benefit the residents of the area, such as eateries, mini-marts, clinics, bakeries, hair salons, child care centers, and resident networking centers.
2 Once completed, the three projects will provide a total of approximately 1,600 new homes, meeting strong demand for housing. The first project at Lakeview will begin with a BTO sales exercise in June 2026, with approximately 1,200 units expected to be sold. Construction work will be carried out in phases from the second quarter of 2026, with the other two projects scheduled to start within the next two years.

First Lakeview BTO project
3 Surrounded by Upper Thomson Road and the existing Lakeview Estates condominiums, the first Lakeview BTO project will offer approximately 1,200 units across five residential blocks. This will consist of approximately 470 two-room flexi apartments and approximately 740 four-room apartments, as well as approximately 50 public rental apartments integrated into two of the blocks. The other two BTO projects (one in Lakeview and one in Shunfu) will offer a combined total of approximately 130 three-room apartments and 290 four-room apartments.
4 Designed to integrate with the surrounding environment, the first Lakeview BTO project will feature blocks of varying heights, from 18 to 40 storeys, with progressively lower rises towards low-rise development in the area. The blocks will be oriented to provide residents with scenic views, including the nearby MacRitchie Reservoir. Further project details, including classification, and sales activity in June 2026 will be announced in the near future.
The first Lakeview BTO project will be designed at staggered heights to provide residents with beautiful views of their surroundings.
New and enhanced amenities for residents
5 Homebuyers and residents living in the area can expect a variety of new amenities, including food and beverage outlets, a mini-mart, a medical clinic, a bakery, a hair salon, and a child care center, all conveniently located within the first Lakeview BTO project. All three projects also have common facilities, where people of all ages gather for sports and recreation. For example, a three-generation play area provides a safe and engaging space for children, while adult and senior fitness stations encourage an active lifestyle through exercise. Residents can also relax and socialize on the rooftop garden above the multi-storey car park. Within this development, the Resident Network Center will provide a new space to foster community bonds.
6 The existing park connector along Upper Thomson Road will be realigned to provide easy access to green spaces such as MacRitchie Reservoir, making it easier for residents living in the area to enjoy recreational activities in nature.

2 The north-south corridor is scheduled to be completed in stages starting in 2027.
7 In addition, a new covered linkway will connect the new Lakeview BTO project with the bus stop along Upper Thomson Road, providing local residents with protected access to public transport. These new and enhanced amenities will provide added convenience to both new and existing residents and create a vibrant neighborhood.
