At least he did something very interesting 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
At Sunday night’s ceremony, Bateman and his co-hosts of the podcast “SmartLess” Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, She won the award for Best Female Actor in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical). However, as the three actors walked on stage, the ceremony’s announcer introduced Bateman in a hilariously brutal way.

“Welcome, Smartless hosts!” Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and — a man who has never been my favorite — Jason Bateman. ”
Bateman slowed down and looked around a bit, looking completely confused and annoyed. Hayes went ahead and began reading from the teleprompter as if Bateman wasn’t annoyed.

“This year’s nominees for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy in a Television Series truly raised the bar by delivering nuanced and one-of-a-kind performances,” Hayes began.
“So are you just going to pretend it never happened?” Bateman interjected, turning his back to the audience.

“What?” said Mr. Hayes.
“The announcer? He said, ‘Isn’t Jason Bateman my favorite?'” Who said that? ” Bateman said.

“To be honest, a lot of people say that,” Arnett said sheepishly.
“Really? Really?” Bateman said with quiet intensity.
“Well, you don’t belong to everyone, and that’s okay,” Arnett said.
“I think you’re great,” Hayes said, trying to defuse the tension. “I loved Ozark.”

“Thank you,” Bateman said, then stopped and realized that Hayes was just trying to comfort him.
“What was that?” Bateman asked Hayes quizzically.
“It’s been about three seasons too long,” Hayes said.
“Look!… Hey… Somehow you managed to get into the category of “Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy.” “It’s just, wow, that’s wild. ”

“Do you understand yet?” the announcer said, eliciting laughter from the audience.

This whole interaction was clearly a scripted sketch, but I’d like to think that this is the dynamic that’s always going on between these three men.
