Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are two of Hollywood’s most famous tough guys, but their softer side comes to light when they discuss their longtime friendship and new movie. wrecking crew.
In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Momoa, who previously co-starred with Bautista in the 2021 film, said: dunes and Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series looktold Bautista that there’s a big reason he feels like “family.”
“Even when we’re not talking, we’re very comfortable,” Momoa tells her friend and co-star. “We can hang out in the same room and do our own things, and I can just be in your presence, you know what I mean? I don’t have to say, ‘…'” ”
Bautista also feels some kinship with him. “I’ve said this a million times: I love you, I feel comfortable with you, I respect you, and I’m proud of you,” he says. “So working with you is a dream come true. Working with people you love is never a job. I love how amazing you are.”

“I consider him like a brother,” Momoa later added of Bautista. “And I also know that if I need anything I can always call him and he’ll be there.” [at the] Definitely a hat drop for me and my family. So, that’s where I stand with him. ”
According to Momoa, the two first met at Comic-Con a few years ago, where they “fell head over heels in love” with each other. wrecking crewa new action comedy (set in Momoa’s native Hawaii) about estranged brothers who reunite after the mysterious death of their father.
Making the film together in the Aloha State was an unforgettable experience for Momoa, who has two teenage children with ex Lisa Bonet, and Bautista, who has three children from a previous relationship.

Their fondest memory was riding their bikes one evening after work for the day.
“There was one day we did that. It was the last shot of the day, and we just drove by the beach, through the hills, through the mountains, and Jason was like, ‘That’s it.’ And he said, ‘Let’s ride home.’ So we got on our bikes and headed back to base. I thought, ‘I can’t believe I’m getting paid to do this,'” Bautista recalled.
“So when the sun goes down in Hawaii, you’re right next to your friends on Harleys,” Momoa added.
Bautista says he was grateful for that moment.
“When you’re working in film, you’re often on stage and in places that aren’t paradise. And I always say, and I always tell people around me, be grateful for days like these, because they’re few and far between. But they’re once-in-a-lifetime days.”
