John Mellencamp shares an update on Teddi Mellencamp’s health as he battles stage 4 cancer.
On Wednesday, January 14, the 74-year-old musician appeared on the latest episode of the TV show. joe rogan experience podcast She then opened up briefly about her family, revealing that her daughter Teddy, 44, is “really ill.”
“It’s not very fun,” he said of Teddy’s journey. “She has cancer in her brain and is suffering right now.”
John’s update came as a surprise after Teddy said his stage 4 cancer was “gone” in October 2025.

But her fight isn’t over, she explained. “I’m on immunotherapy, so I’m still going to have days where I’m not feeling well. So I’m still fighting because I have to.”
Teddy said at the time that he planned to continue immunotherapy for a year, adding: “I’m not considered to be in remission.”
She further explained: [doctors] They said it was effective and that in one, two, and three years you would be considered in remission. So, but that was big news yesterday. ”
Teddy previously revealed that doctors gave her a “50-50 chance of survival” after battling cancer. His battle with the disease began in 2022 when he developed stage 2 melanoma, the most deadly type of skin cancer, on his back. Since then, she has undergone 17 surgeries for invasive skin cancer. However, in April 2025, Teddy revealed that his cancer had spread to his brain and lungs. She has undergone immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery to treat the tumor.
