Mahindra started the 2026 calendar year on a high note with total sales of 63,510 units in January 2026. This compared to sales of 50,659 units in January 2025, which recorded a solid year-on-year growth of 25.37%. On a month-on-month (mo-on-month) basis, the company also recorded a healthy increase of 24.66% compared to December’s sales of 50,946 units. 2025 highlights sustained demand momentum across the company’s SUV portfolio.
Mahindra Sales Breakdown January 2026 – YoY
Scorpio / Scorpio N remained Mahindra’s best-selling nameplate in January 2026 with sales of 15,542 units. Although year-over-year growth was relatively flat at 0.65%, the Scorpio brand remains a consistent volume driver for the company. Despite a slight month-on-month decline of 2.16%, Scorpio’s stable performance reflects its strong brand equity and continued demand in both urban and semi-urban markets.
Thar / Thar ROXX emerged as one of the companies that contributed most to the month’s growth. The lifestyle SUV sold 13,418 units, registering an impressive 77.56% year-on-year growth. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, sales volumes increased by 43.68% compared to December 2025, highlighting the growing traction for the expanded Thar lineup. The addition of new variants and broader appeal beyond hardcore off-road enthusiasts seem to be working in Mahindra’s favor.
Bolero also achieved strong performance, reaching 11,841 units in January 2026. This represents an increase of 36.39% year over year and an increase of 11.59% month over month. Bolero continues to enjoy strong support in rural and semi-urban areas, strengthening Mahindra’s dominance in the utility-centric segment.
The XUV700/7XO series contributed 10,133 units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 20.65%. The sharp month-on-month increase of 611.59% suggests normalization of supply or clearing of the backlog within the month. On the other hand, XUV 3XO / EV recorded 8,845 units, an increase of 4.63% from the previous year, but a slight decrease of 6.12% from the previous month.
Mahindra’s new-age electric portfolio is slowly gaining ground. XEV 9e recorded 1,945 units, an increase of 71.06%, and BE 6 recorded 1,028 units, an increase of 46.86%. The recently launched XEV 9 added 612 units in its initial phase. However, sales of XUV400 were 146 units, down 49.31% year-on-year. This likely reflects a shift in focus to new EV platforms.
Overall, Mahindra’s January 2026 sales performance reflects a balanced growth story. Strong traction of Thar and Bolero, stable sales of Scorpio and XUV700, and expansion of EV lineup are collectively helping the company strengthen its position in the highly competitive Indian SUV market.
