Mediacorp appoints Virginia Lim as chief content and talent officer following Doreen Neo’s retirement

SINGAPORE: Mediacorp will have a new chief content and talent officer from April as chief talent officer Doreen Neo retires.

Ms. Virginia Lim, 55, who currently heads Mediacorp’s content group, will take over as leader of Talent Hub following Ms. Neo’s retirement, the company announced in a press release on Wednesday (February 11).

She will take up the role from April 1st, and Neo will retire on March 31st.

Mediacorp said Mr. Neo, 63, has held multiple leadership roles at the company for more than 20 years, including chief content officer and managing director (studio), and has served as a stable leader through periods of change and opportunity.

“Under Mr. Neo’s leadership, Mediacorp’s Talent Hub has strengthened its position as a platform for discovering, developing and supporting talent across traditional, digital and social media,” the company said.

The company’s Talent Hub represents over 250 talents and creators across Bloomr.SG and The Celebrity Agency, with a combined following of over 50 million across social platforms.

In his new role, Lim will further align Mediacorp’s content and talent strategy and strengthen its pipeline of talent and original IP, Mediacorp said.

She will also deepen co-productions and cross-border collaborations to further expand opportunities for Singapore’s stories and talent to reach wider audiences within the region and beyond, the company added.

Mediacorp CEO Tam Loke Keng paid tribute to Mr Neo, saying he had served Mediacorp with “deep dedication and heart”.

She believes that Mr. Neo’s foresight and conviction shaped the company’s talent ecosystem, supported talent development, and strengthened the talent pathway as the media industry evolved.

“We are grateful for her leadership and friendship and wish her a fulfilling and well-deserved retirement,” Tam said.

“Mr Lim’s expanded role as Chief Content and Talent Officer reflects the strategic importance of bringing content and talent closer together,” Mr Tam said.

“As regional co-productions and creative partnerships accelerate, this combined leadership will strengthen our ability to develop talent, cultivate original IP, and build collaborations that spread Singapore’s story better than ever before.”

Neo thanked his colleagues for their trust and support over the years and said he looked forward to “supporting Team Mediacorp in its next chapter.”

“It has been a privilege to grow with Mediacorp and work with colleagues and partners who care deeply about the craft and purpose of what we do as Singapore’s national media network,” she said.

“I’m proud of what we’ve built together, especially in strengthening support for talent and creators across our platforms.”

Commenting on the new appointment, Lim said: “By bringing content and talent closer together, we will strengthen the way we support creators and artists and shape their stories from the beginning.”

“This expanded role will allow us to work more closely with our partners, collaborators and platforms in Singapore and beyond, giving us even more room for collaboration and growth. As we move forward, we will continue to evolve with a focus on the people and technology behind every story,” she added.
