Metro Detroit braces for frigid temperatures, more snowfall

4 warning weather warning will continue until morning

detroit – A 4Warn weather warning remains in effect this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for all of southern Michigan until 10 a.m. due to this morning’s lake effect snowfall. This comes as lake-effect snowfall has coated some roads in the region since early this morning, causing blowing snow and very cold winds of up to -15 degrees Celsius. Highs today will stay in the teens range, but feel like low single digits at best.

Snow is expected to return late tonight into Wednesday morning, impacting the morning commute. An additional accumulation of perhaps 1 to 3 inches is expected. Tomorrow’s high temperatures will be more seasonal, briefly reaching the low 30s before a much colder spell.

Arctic air returns Friday and will remain across the region through the weekend. High temperatures on Friday and Saturday will remain in the single digits, with wind chills likely to dip below -15 degrees on Saturday and Sunday morning.
