New search and rescue helicopter takes over Waterford base

From midnight tonight, an EI-IRG AgustaWestland AW189 operated by Bristow Ireland will officially take over the role, with a new search and rescue helicopter operating from its Waterford base.

This change marks the end of an era for Rescue 117, whose crews have served the region with distinction for many years. Their professionalism and dedication has completed thousands of missions and saved hundreds of lives.

I would like to commend the Rescue 117 team for their dedication and service and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

All eyes are now on Bristow Ireland crews who will provide vital search and rescue services from Waterford in the future.
