A brief synopsis for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been released courtesy of publisher Penguin Random House’s website.

As you know, Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film, which will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Wonder Man, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), and will feature multiple villains.

Also set to star are Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as Ronnie Lincoln/Tombstone, Sadie Sink, Liza Colon-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman.

Now, a new synopsis has been provided via the description of the upcoming coffee table book Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movies, which reads:

“It’s been four years since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is doing everything in his power to keep New York City safe.

Things are going well for the anonymous hero, but a trail of unusual crimes draws him into a web of mystery greater than he has ever faced. To face what’s to come, Spider-Man not only has to be in top shape physically and mentally, but he also has to be ready to face the effects of his past. ”

The synopsis comes after a busy few days for the film, with concept art leaks confirming the appearance of Boomerang, Tarantula, and Savage Hulk, but there has been much controversy and debate as to whether any of these leaks are real or AI.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will be released nationwide on July 31st.
