STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Don’t let the early morning sun fool you. Snow could be in New Yorkers’ future Sunday evening as the storm moves into the region.
The day will start at around 44 degrees, but temperatures are expected to plummet to 33 degrees by night. However, the temperature will feel around 18 degrees.
In the meantime, a slushy mix of rain and snow is possible during the evening commute.
As New Yorkers head home in the dark hours of the evening, roads can become slippery and heavy snow could further impact travel.
According to AccuWeather“Any further heavy snowfall could result in poor visibility.”
Factor in wind gusts up to 51 miles per hour, and tonight’s trip home was even trickier.
New Jersey is expecting squalls up to 45 mph to fall in certain areas of the state, “particularly along and north of Interstate 95.” According to Advance/SILive.com sister site NJ.com.
However, there is no need to worry. AccuWeather’s forecast shows very little accumulation expected Sunday evening.
The good news is that once the storm leaves the area, the rest of the night will be quiet.
The next chance for snow is Thursday.
Whether that happens depends on the path of the coastal storm. According to AccuWeather.
Currently, the forecast calls for a mix of snow and rain for the day Thursday, but a chilly 24-degree night overnight will begin the transition to a snow-only possibility.
Again, everything depends on coastal storm movement.
