ROME (AP) — Nico Paz scored twice but missed a penalty as Como cruised to a 3-0 victory over Lazio in Serie A on Monday, snapping a third straight win on the road with the same scoreline.

The win also moves Como within two points of fifth-placed Juventus, while Lazio sit in ninth place with just one win in their last six games.

Martin Baturina opened the scoring two minutes later, but was lucky that his shot was deflected before it hit the net.

Paz ran through midfield with the composure that won him Serie A’s Rising Star of the Month award in August and September, and doubled Como’s lead with a left-footed shot from close range midway through the first half.

The Spain-born Argentina international had a penalty saved in the 35th minute but added his second goal four minutes after half-time.

A cheeky backheel from Baturina set the ball up and he smashed in a precise finish from the edge of the box.

Verona remains at the bottom

Verona remain at the bottom of the league after drawing 0-0 with Cremonese earlier on Monday.

Giovane came close to breaking the deadlock for the visitors, but the deadlock extended Verona’s winless run to six games.

Verona are tied with Pisa with 14 points and remain at the bottom of the table on goal difference. Both clubs are three points behind Lecce and Fiorentina.

With this point, Cremone moved up three places to 12th place.
