Noah Kahan covers indie songs at Mexican Resort Festival

Every January, popular Vermont singer-songwriter Noah Kahan headlines and serves as curator of the Out of the Blue Resort Festival on the Riviera Cancun. This is one of the more elaborate ways to deal with stick season. This year’s fest took place last weekend at the Moon Palace Resort, co-headlined by Mumford & Sons and Carp. Keihan played a set of standards on Friday night, but on Sunday they welcomed a slew of guests to the stage to close out the festival, making it a night of mostly covers.

After opening with his own “Dial Drunk,” accompanied by Sam Barber, Kayhan performed songs by Counting Crows (“A Long December”), Radiohead (“No. They belted out songs by Sufjan Stevens (“Chicago”), MJ Lenderman (“She’s Leaving You”), Oasis (“Don’t Look Back in Anger”), and Olivia Deen (“Man I Need”). Assisting him in this pursuit were Michael Markazi, Leif Volbeck, Cassandra Coleman, Tiny Havits, Max McNown, The Brook & The Bluff, Flipturn, Gigi Perez, Goldford, Arcee Drive, and Taylor Meyer. Kayhan’s “Paul Revere” was somewhere in the middle, and he ended with his signature song “Stick Season.”
