The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Femi Funwo, has commended Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his leadership qualities, saying his leadership excellence cannot be separated from his character traits.
Mr. Funwo disclosed this at his office in Lokoja while accepting the award as High Impact Commissioner from the Center for Ethics and Self-Worth Orientation.
He described Governor Ododo’s administration as a “government of conscience” committed to good governance and accountability to the people.
“The governor has constituted his administration to be accountable to the people. He has continued to harp on the fact that we are all servants of the people. He is the chief servant of Kogi state. He is the chief servant of Kogi state.”
“If you study His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, you will understand that leadership and personality traits are intertwined. Good people are more likely to become good leaders,” he said.
Mr Fanwo thanked the group for recognizing the governor’s achievements and appealed to the people of the state to continue to uphold their faith in government, noting that public trust in government is rooted in delivering on promises.
“During his election campaign, the governor promised to repair the Oganenig Road, which had been neglected for decades. Currently, construction work on the road is progressing steadily. If a leader fulfills his promise, the people will naturally trust him,” he added.
The Secretary also expressed his gratitude to the organizations he deemed worthy of the award and dedicated the award to the Governor and the staff of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Earlier, the Director-General of the centre, Prince Salihu Musa Yakubu, said Governor Ododo’s administration had changed the narrative of governance in the state.
“In general, we recognize transparency and accountability, which is what already endears him to the public. We find you worthy of this award and are proud to identify with you in that respect.”
“His Excellency Kingsley Femi Funwo has done a great job and has ensured that people can see and hear what is happening in the state,” he said.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including the Governor’s Special Adviser on Electronic Media. Yusuf Ohiale, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Technical Assistant of the Ministry, and other Directors.
