More than €100,000 has been raised for a mother in Dublin who is battling stage 4 cancer. It comes just three years after the four children lost their father to the same disease.

a A GoFundMe has been established Donated by Sinead’s family, they raised over €100,000 for Sinead and her four children. She uses her savings to make memories with her children and to pay for ongoing medical treatment, and is living financially on her widow’s pension.

The fundraiser said: “Sinead is one of the strongest and most positive people we know. Her courage, resilience and sheer determination continues to inspire those around her. Sinead’s parents are in their 80s, her partner’s parents have passed away, and despite having a strong support system of her sister, brother-in-law and close friends, the financial burden is overwhelming. Her family hopes that the funds raised will support her access to the best complementary therapies alongside her treatment, meet day-to-day family needs and, most importantly, allow them to focus on making memories and being there for their four children.

Ms Sinead said in a fundraising update: “I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to you all for what has happened over the last few days. It is truly overwhelming. My children and I are truly in awe of the amount of support we have received throughout the year, but the last 48 hours have been the most important. I can’t thank them enough.

“As we speak, my sister is constantly researching and has discovered a treatment or two and is just waiting to hear back to see if it’s possible. But one thing we do know is the generosity of the GoFundMe page, which will help pay for this treatment. So without that, we wouldn’t have been able to do this. So from the bottom of my heart and from the kids, I just want to say, thank you very much for everything you’ve done, because it really means a lot to us. ”
