WACO, Texas — Tunde Yesufu scored 27 points and Baylor defeated Colorado 86-67 in Big 12 play on Wednesday.
Baylor (13-9, 3-7 Big 12) dominated the first half, taking a 45-21 lead with hot shooting and a flurry of early 3-pointers. Yesufu went 10-of-16 from the field and added seven rebounds, helping the Bears shoot 53 percent overall and 42 percent from behind.
Cameron Carr and Obi Agbim each scored 19 points and combined for six 3-pointers for the Bears. Carr had eight rebounds and six assists, and Agvim had six assists. Baylor made 20 of 25 free throws and outscored the Buffaloes 32-26.
Colorado (13-10, 3-7) was unable to cut the deficit to single digits in the second half despite a late push from its bench. Ian Inman scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and Jalin Holland added 12 points. Barrington Hargress had 11 points and Isaiah Johnson had 10 points and four assists.
The Buffaloes shot 40 percent from the field and 41 percent from three, but outscored the Bears 46-41 after halftime. Baylor answered every run, increasing the lead to 70-41 on Carr’s jumper with 8 minutes, 27 seconds left, and remained in control the rest of the way.
Baylor heads to No. 7 Iowa State on Saturday.
This Saturday, Colorado hosts Arizona State.
