The good news continues for Robert Kraft.
Not only has MVP candidate Drake Maye become a Tom Brady clone to restore the New England Patriots’ dominance of the AFC East, but his football team has reached an agreement on a brand new home.
Earlier this month, the New England Revolution negotiated a compensation agreement with Boston lawmakers that would allow them to leave Gillette Stadium and move to Everett’s Waterfront Arena.
The MLS team has shared Gillette with the Pats since 2002.
Revolution leaves Gillette Stadium for ‘vibrant’ new home
Unlike many cases where public money is funneled to pet projects of wealthy moguls, Massachusetts requires teams to pay for the use of their own stadiums.
Craft — 204th richest person in the world With a $13.8 billion fortune, you can certainly afford it.
The Kraft Group and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced on January 1 an agreement to spend $48 million on infrastructure improvements and other projects in areas affected by the new arena.
In Everett, the Kraft family agreed to provide $20 million in funding for the construction and maintenance of a waterfront park along the Mystic River.
Also, $17.5 million will be allocated to build a new entrance to the Orange Line’s Assembly Station in Somerville that will lead to a pedestrian bridge across the river.
The $2.25 fee for the new sidewalk will go into city coffers, and officials value the project at more than $90 million over 20 years. According to the Boston Globe.
Although the project has not yet received planning approval, major hurdles have been overcome.
“We fought for a fair deal for Boston and its residents, and that’s what we accomplished through this deal,” Mayor Wu said in a statement.
Negotiations are progressing well and the deadline for reaching a decision on the site of the closed power plant is December 31st.
The Kraft Group has been looking for a location for years to build a 25,000-seat soccer venue that will also host concerts.
They are now preparing to transform a “long-neglected” industrial site along the Mystic River into a “vibrant, universally accessible waterfront destination.”
How much will the Revolution Stadium project cost?
Kraft Group’s spending could exceed $500 million and will revitalize an industrial area that needs a cash injection.
In fact, New England’s soccer team averaged about 29,000 fans last season, meaning the owners are spending that money building a stadium that is probably smaller than necessary.
However, Revolution chairman Brian Bilello told the Globe that the move will benefit them in the long run.
“The biggest thing from a kind of big-picture perspective, frankly, is the association of Greater Boston with Major League Soccer and the revolution,” he told the outlet.
“This month, I’m still seeing articles and stories about Boston’s four sports teams.
“Of course, considering our attendance and years of operation, it is unfortunate that other teams still view us as a junior professional sports team.”
While the Revolution is building for the future, success is certainly expected this season for Kraft’s NFL franchise.
NFL greats…

Ranking the top 10…
Kraft Group’s chairman and CEO bought the Patriots in 1994.
He paid the struggling team a then-record $172 million and decided to keep it in New England before leading one of the most dominant dynasties in NFL history.
At the center were head coach Bill Belichick and QB Brady, two future Hall of Famers and all-time greats who masterminded six Super Bowl championships.
But all good things must come to an end, and in 2020 Brady left the Patriots as a free agent after 20 years before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won his seventh and final Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Rejuvenated Patriots chasing glory in Super Bowl I
Belichick continued to play for the Pats until 2024, after which, after a disappointing season and the need for a rebuild, both coach and team decided to part ways.
Former New England linebacker Mike Vrabel took over for Jerod Mayo in 2025 and led a surprising turnaround.
The Pats finished the regular season with a 14-3 record and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round of the playoffs last weekend.
Gillette Stadium will host the divisional round game between New England and the Houston Texans on Sunday.
The winner will advance to the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos, who lost quarterback Bo Nix to injury.
Super Bowl LX will decide which team will win.
Gillette may soon succumb to the revolution, but Kraft will be hoping to fly the flag as a new ‘world champion’ in the coming months.
