It can be anything. The latest of these special edition watches to be released, the Seiko 5 Sport SRPM09, is a very cool and beautiful green vintage-inspired watch. Time sonar conceptproduced with lifestyle brand HUF.

Founded in 2002 by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel, HUF is a lifestyle brand rooted in the spirit of skateboarding and street culture. HUF started out as a shop with a carefully selected mix of brands, but has evolved into a full-fledged label expressing its founder’s vision for skateboarding and street culture. Currently, HUF has grown into a highly acclaimed lifestyle brand that is recognized in a wide range of fields. And as you can guess from the main color used on this new SRPM09, HUF’s signature shade is… green.

In contrast to previous watches, this is based on vintage “time sonar” inspiration (What this article explains) all had rotating bezels, but the new HUF Limited Edition SRPM09 is cleaner with a more compact, symmetrical case and a smooth polished bezel. The polished and brushed stainless steel case is 39.4 mm in diameter, 11.6 mm thick and has a lug distance of 48.1 mm, classic mid-range proportions for a 5 sports watch. The rest is notable for its hardlex crystal on top (no sapphire yet, sorry…), screw-down caseback with greenish mineral crystal and graphics inspired by San Francisco, the city where HUF was founded, and 100 meters of water resistance with push-pull crown.

The biggest attraction here is the dial. Using HUF’s design language and time sonar inspiration, it features a bright neon green translucent dial that reveals the day-date mechanism underneath. The dial is decorated with markers, including an orange triangle at 12 o’clock (matching the orange seconds hand) and a central black section surrounding the calendar display. The receiver is Same as previous time sonar model Filled with Lumibrite.

Underneath the see-through caseback is the proven in-house automatic caliber 4R36, the flagship movement that vibrates at a frequency of 3Hz and has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The watch is worn on a 3-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp and is delivered in a special stainless steel box.
