On the other hand, Oman, who are at the bottom of the table, will aim for a comeback in the 2026 T20 World Cup with a victory over Sri Lanka.

After winning the toss, Oman captain Jatinder Singh stressed that the team will not be decided in one match, pointing out that they have prepared well and stressing the importance of getting their batting right.

“We’ll bowl first, but it’s a bit damp so we’ll want to take advantage of the conditions.” Well, I don’t think there’s much to choose from from the first match and it’s not going to be decided by one match, so we just have to bat well, so I think everything will fall into place. Yes, the preparations went really well,” said Jatinder Singh.

Dasun Shanaka said the team will have to make adjustments due to the absence of key bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and will have to bring in Dushyant Hemanta as his replacement.

“Unfortunately, our champion bowler Hasaranga was absent so we had to make that change,” Shanaka said during the toss. (Ani)
