Tata Motors hits record high in monthly sales, surpassing 71,000 units for the first time
Tata Motors has started 2026 on a strong note. In the first month of this year, the company recorded sales of 71,066 units, a year-on-year growth of 47.1%. This was the company’s highest monthly sales ever.

Tiago has also joined the milestone club with cumulative sales exceeding 700,000 units. Demand for Tata’s new cars, including the petrol models Sierra, Harrier and Safari, as well as the improved Punch, remains strong, prompting the company to gradually ramp up production of the Sierra to meet exceptional customer demand.

Tata Motors recorded total sales of 71,066 passenger cars in January 2026. This is an increase of 47.1% compared to January 2025 sales of 48,316 units, and a 40.31% increase compared to January 2025 sales of 50,046 units. December 2025. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, recorded sales of 844 units last month, an increase of 251.7% from the 240 units sold in January 2025, an increase in sales of 604 units.
The company’s export volumes have increased dramatically, reflecting growing global demand for Tata’s range of electric vehicles. Total EV sales, including exports, increased to 9,052 units, an increase of 72.7% from 5,240 units in the same month last year. This was an increase of 3,812 units. Tata Motors posted strong performance in its commercial vehicles segment in January 2026, driven by strong demand across key cargo categories. Domestic CV sales were 38,844 units, recording a 29.1% year-on-year increase compared to January 2025. Growth was led by HCV trucks, with sales increasing to 12,691 units (+41.2% year-on-year), followed by ILMCV trucks with 7,071 units (+33.5%). The SCV Cargo and Pickup segment also delivered solid momentum with 29.5% year-on-year growth to 14,520 units, highlighting continued strength in last-mile and intracity logistics demand.
Tata Motors’ total CV sales in January 2026, including its international business, reached 41,549 units, recording steady growth of 29.9% year-on-year. Exports contributed 2,705 units, a significant increase of 42% compared to the same month last year. Passenger airlines remained broadly stable at 4,562 units, with a slight decline of 0.4%, even as the cargo-heavy segment continued to perform well. Overall, this performance reflects sustained infrastructure activity, stable freight traffic and improved demand conditions across domestic and export markets.
