With the launch of the facelifted Tata Punch EV scheduled for tomorrow (February 20), Tata Motors is set to refresh its smallest electric SUV with updated styling, more features and potentially better range. It will be positioned below the Nexon EV and Carve EV in Tata’s lineup.
So if you’re planning on buying one, here are five important things you need to know before the price is revealed. Introducing the Punch EV’s exterior, interior, features, expected powertrain, and price.
exterior
Tata took an evolutionary approach to design. The front of the Punch EV facelift features a redesigned bumper with a simpler look, a larger air dam and larger headlamp clusters with black surrounds. The signature connected LED DRLs have been removed, but the slim DRLs and nose-mounted charging flap are still retained. A new textured faux silver skid plate adds a fresh touch. These subtle changes in the fascia give the facelift a distinctly fresh look when viewed from the front.
If you look at the profile, you can see that the silhouette has not changed. The door has a ‘Tata.ev’ badge. It continues with aerodynamically styled 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. In a quirky way, there are also C-pillar-mounted rear door handles.
The rear design has not yet been fully revealed, but it is expected to take cues from the Punch ICE facelift, and will likely feature connected LED taillights and a revised bumper.

interior
As for the interior, the changes are expected to be subtle but meaningful. The facelift will likely bring updated upholstery, a revised cabin theme, and improved seat comfort with expanded thigh support.

The two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, freestanding infotainment display and rotary dial gear selector will continue to be available. However, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is expected to replace the current unit, enhancing its technological appeal.
Function and safety
Punch EV is expected to bring some premium features. Feature additions may include a power driver seat, 12.3-inch infotainment system, updated graphics for the 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and an upgraded sound system.
Note that the Punch EV is already well-equipped, with features such as a voice-enabled electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and air purifier carried over from the pre-facelift model.
On the safety front, Tata may introduce ADAS features in the Punch EV. Six airbags are standard, and ESC, electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill hold assist, 360-degree camera and rear parking sensors will also continue to be offered.
Powertrain options
The Punch EV facelift is likely to retain the existing battery pack options.

It will continue to compete directly with the Citroen eC3. It can also be considered as an alternative to EVs like MG Windsor EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and even its sibling Tata Nexon EV.
Notably, Maruti launched the e Vitara in the compact EV space with prices starting from Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). If you want to know more about e Vitara, check out this story.
The Punch EV facelift could further strengthen its appeal in the entry-level electric SUV segment with added features, refreshed styling, and the potential for improved range.
