LA Bowl closes after just 5 games

ENGLEWOOD, Calif. — The LA Bowl is closing after five years of operation.

The group announced the long-awaited decision on social media Thursday.

The bowl game was established in 2020 as another national showcase for the multibillion-dollar arena complex built by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke.

The LA Bowl opened in 2021 with comedian Jimmy Kimmel as title sponsor after its opening was postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The game has gone through several naming rights sponsors during its short existence, with the past three editions being “hosted” by former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The Mountain West champions played in four of their five games, playing against West Coast schools with Pac-12 roots.

On December 13, Washington defeated Boise State 38-10 in the LA Bowl final game to win the championship.
