TL;DR

  • Google is testing a “playback speed” option for Google Photos, offering speed options from 0.25x to 2x.
  • Users can also hide date labels to create a clean, uninterrupted grid-like layout of their photos.
  • These features are currently not available to users.

Google Photos finally allows you to adjust video playback speed

Google Photos v7.58 lets you enable a long-requested feature within the app: the ability to adjust playback speed.

In the near future, when playing a video, users will be able to tap the three dots in the top right corner and select a “playback speed” option. This will open a bottom sheet showing speed options such as 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, etc.

Google Photos could offer a more immersive photo view

We were also able to enable a new toggle that allows users to hide dates from photo views. This creates an uninterrupted, more immersive grid of photos with no date separators, similar to other gallery apps.

Toggling the settings doesn’t change anything, so you still can’t have an uninterrupted view. We will keep you updated as more details become available.
