The Toy Box is an occasional online-only column highlighting the latest toys and collectibles.
If you’re looking for collectibles and toys to keep the kids (and yourself) occupied during CNY, here are some options.
Hot Wheels CNY Porsche
Hot Wheels powers up the Year of the Horse with a Lunar New Year limited edition Silver Series diecast created in collaboration with Porsche and modeled after the iconic Porsche 935.
This premium 1:64 scale collector’s release brings together auspicious Chinese Yuan symbolism, automotive culture traditions, and signature Hot Wheels performance.
Designed by Anton Henggono, this Asia Pacific-exclusive diecast features a striking deep red base with gold accents, white and gold galloping horse iconography, and expressive calligraphy strokes inspired by traditional CNY motifs.
The diecast is packaged in a specially designed blister card and illuminated with fireworks, glowing lanterns, tower skylines and iconic red and gold details, completing the festive storytelling from the car to the packaging.
This release celebrates Hot Wheels’ continued collaboration with the automotive culture community and Porsche, reimagining the legendary performance silhouette through a cultural and celebratory lens, making it a true collector’s item made for celebration, culture and speed.
Hot Wheels Lunar New Year Silver Series Diecast is currently available at select toy specialty stores, department stores, convenience stores, and Gasoline Marts nationwide.
Lego CNY set
Lego introduced the first CNY set eight years ago and since then it has become one of the most anticipated sets of the year, especially in this part of the world.
This year, toy companies have come up with two major playsets. That includes Spring Festival Galloping Horse Canvas, one of the most dynamic CNY sets to date.
Centered around a canvas printed with a powerful horse motif and brush strokes, this set combines traditional Chinese aesthetics with LEGO bricks to bring to life the traditional blessing of “success when you arrive.”
But this is more than just a display piece, it also incorporates a fun play feature in the form of a rotating handle that makes the horse seem to jump out of the picture.
Every LEGO CNY collection features minifigures celebrating festivals, and this time it’s the Spring Festival Fortune Firecracker set.
This set recreates the classic firecracker design and incorporates several interactive features that reveal festive scenes and evoke the season’s familiar crackling sound.
Press the button to switch between the spring festival fireworks display and the celebration scene of people welcoming the God of Fortune.
You can also place bricks inside the firecracker and make a “cracking” sound when you move it.
Another new festive set is the 386-piece Fortune Master, a cute recreation of a CNY icon.
The collectible model is dressed in a traditional red and gold outfit, surrounded by symbols of good fortune such as gold coins and red envelopes.
From now until February 22, you can attend the LEGO ‘Gallop Into Playful Horizons’ event at LG2 Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Visitors receive a mission card and embark on a fun journey through the oriental-inspired Lego Chinese Garden, where they can explore and complete four engaging activity stations.
By completing these activity stations, children under 12 will receive an exclusive LEGO Make and Take Horse and adults will receive a special LEGO voucher.
