TM Roh shares insights on SEAO at new Galaxy S26 launch – Samsung Newsroom Malaysia

“Consumers in Southeast Asia and Oceania have high expectations for technology that improves their lives, and the Galaxy S26 series delivers next-level intelligent experiences,” said TM Roh, CEO, President, and Head of Device Experience at Samsung Electronics.

After the new Galaxy S series was announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, TM Roh, CEO, President and Head of Device Experience (DX) at Samsung Electronics, led a leadership panel session and shared insights with media from Southeast Asia and Oceania.

He highlighted the region’s strong demand for technology, noting that nine out of 10 young people in Southeast Asia use AI on their mobile devices every day.

“Southeast Asia and Oceania are one of the world’s most dynamic markets and the fastest adopters of AI innovation,” he said, underscoring that the region’s openness and enthusiasm for technological advances offers immense potential and makes it a key region for future AI development.

Noting the region’s diverse population and landscape, TM Roh reiterated the importance of localization and shared that Samsung is optimizing Galaxy AI for local languages, contexts, and environments at three R&D centers in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

“Our customers in Southeast Asia and Oceania have very high expectations for the latest technology,” he said. Addressing the needs and demands of consumers in the region, he said, “Galaxy S26 is built to deliver the most powerful mobile performance ever, taking the camera experience to the next level, and powered by enhanced Galaxy AI, designed to help users complete everyday tasks faster and more naturally.”

The Galaxy S26 series represents a significant step forward in Samsung’s agent AI approach, by reducing user effort to get things done and allowing AI to quietly assist in the background to simplify daily life.

TM Roh revealed that 67% of the Galaxy S25 series sold in Southeast Asia and Oceania were Galaxy S25 Ultra, reflecting consumer demand for a premium mobile experience. He also shared that sales of the Galaxy S25 series in the region have outperformed its predecessor, gaining momentum through real-world use case reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations. He expressed his sincere gratitude for the strong support from consumers in the region.

As consumers in Southeast Asia and Oceania look forward to the arrival of the new lineup, the Galaxy S26 series will be launched in five markets in the first phase: Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore.
