Is it compulsory to work from home?

Private companies are encouraged to work remotely until March 3rd.

Human Resources and Emirates (MoHRE) advised the private sector to adopt remote working “wherever possible” and avoid having workers present in open areas, except for roles that require physical attendance.

Companies may decide on remote or flexible arrangements based on the nature of their work and operational requirements.

MoHRE also clarified that the decision to suspend work or take additional measures will be left to the local authorities in charge, depending on the situation.

As Khaleej Times previously reported, many UAE companies have already introduced hybrid and remote working policies to support their employees during this period, allowing them to stay safe and be close to their families.

Do Ramadan working hours still apply?

yes. Private sector employees across the UAE continue to receive a two-hour reduction in their daily working hours during the holy month of Ramadan.

Companies may introduce flexible working arrangements or remote working within the reduced Ramadan working hours, depending on their business interests and the nature of their operations.

Is business in Dubai and Abu Dhabi operating as usual?

yes. The Dubai Government Media Office said Dubai’s private sector continues to operate as usual, with most commercial activities operating without interruption.

Similarly, the Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that the emirate’s private sector is operating in accordance with the approved plan and businesses continue to serve customers, maintain supply chains and provide services without interruption.

Are there any restrictions on going out or moving?

No comprehensive announcement regarding movement restrictions has been made.

The National Emergency, Emergency and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) advised residents to continue normal activities with vigilance and caution, follow instructions from authorities and rely only on official sources for the latest information.

Officials stressed that monitoring is ongoing and measures are focused on preparedness and public safety.

Where did the advice to “stay indoors” come from?

The text comes from an emergency message sent when the UAE Armed Forces intercepted an Iranian missile wave.

At the time, residents were urged to “stay safe indoors, await official instructions and trust only the latest information from official sources.”

This recommendation was associated with the active interception phase. The latest guidance reflects continued vigilance while allowing normal activities to proceed with caution.

Are delivery companies operating as usual?

yes. Delivery companies are operating as usual, but there may be some confusion or delays due to logistics and route conditions.

Need to stock up on essentials?

No, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism says the UAE market remains stable and well-supplied, and the strategic stockpile of essential goods is solid and able to meet domestic demand for a long time.

The ministry confirmed that food and non-food items are available in sufficient quantities nationwide, imports and the flow of goods are proceeding normally, and there are no signs of supply disruptions or product shortages.

Authorities urged residents not to overbuy or stockpile, stressing that the market remains fully capable of meeting demand.

Have prices increased?

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism confirmed that the price monitoring framework remains valid and effective.

In cooperation with federal and local governments, regular inspection campaigns are carried out to prevent unfair price increases, combat monopolistic practices and ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and approved pricing policies.

Residents who discover concerns regarding price irregularities or product availability can contact the Ministry through official channels.
