After finishing the league stages of the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League, English clubs are much further along than any other league, with the Premier League being the only league in which all European qualifiers (all nine) have still been played. The two countries that finish with the highest average coefficient scores (points are earned for good results in the three European competitions) will earn additional spots for the 2026-27 season.

Italy and Germany have each secured additional spots for the 2024-25 season (the first in the new format), while England and Spain have acquired them ahead of this season.

Six Premier League clubs took part in this season’s Champions League thanks to Tottenham Hotspur winning the Europa League, and it could well happen again as Aston Villa finished second in the league and look to be among the favorites to lift the trophy in Istanbul this spring.
