Chinese technology company Honor has announced its latest smartphone Magic 8 Pro Air in its latest effort to expand its presence in the domestic market despite increasing competition.

The move comes after Honor recorded rapid growth in overseas markets in 2025.

The company said the Magic 8 Pro Air, which measures 6.1 mm and weighs only 155 grams, has strong performance in photography and battery.

According to Honor, the company’s annual global smartphone shipments will exceed 710 million units in 2025, an increase of 9% from the previous year. The company particularly highlighted its strong performance in overseas markets, where shipments increased by 47% and accounted for more than half of total sales for the first time.

According to the latest report from market research firm International Data Corporation, China’s smartphone market as a whole will see a slight contraction in 2025, with total shipments dropping 0.6% from the previous year to approximately 285 million units.

Looking ahead, IDC expects China’s smartphone shipments to decline even more significantly in 2026 due to increasing cost pressures, market saturation, and longer replacement cycles.
