MUMBAI, India (AP) – Sikandar Raza correctly called the coin toss during Zimbabwe’s Twenty20 World Cup Group 1 Super 8 match between Zimbabwe and West Indies.
The remaining two teams in Group 1 are South Africa and India. The Proteas defeated the defending champions by 76 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Today is a chance for both competing teams to put even more pressure on the co-hosts.
Zimbabwe made it through Group B in the league stage, defeating Australia and Sri Lanka in the first round, and had an amazing T20 run.
This will be Zimbabwe’s first qualification to the second round of the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, West Indies made it through Group C.
There is only one change for both teams. For Zimbabwe, spinner Wellington Masakadza will be replaced by left-arm middle-order pacer Richard Ngaraba.
West Indies replaced Roston Chase with medium-paced all-rounder Romario Shepherd.
The pitch of the iconic Wankhede Stadium should be helpful to batsmen in general. However, he has stalled after the second round throughout the tournament, and unless there is enough night dew, those chasing him may have a tough time.
